WHY ON EARTH WOULD I WANT TO TAKE A COURSE ON GRIEF? I WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT LESS, NOT MORE! I WANT A BREAK FROM IT, NOT TO SPEND TIME DIVING INTO IT EVEN DEEPER….”

Look, we get it. And if we could wave a magic wand and take you to a grief-free place, we would. No one should have to cope with the pain of grief.

And yet it’s the one thing we will all have to do, at some point in our life.

So here’s what we are going to do for you instead. We’re going to walk the path with you. You might feel like you’re in a scary, hostile, unfamiliar landscape, but we know it inside out. We’re going to give you a map and a compass, with a deep understanding of grief, that will help you get your bearings.

We’re going to give you a survival kit, with tried-and-tested interventions and tools, to help you cope with whatever you’re faced with. And we’re going to make sure you are cared for, with the support of our team, and your fellow travellers.

Being With Grief: Mind, Body, Breath, & Death

Online courses, launching Summer 2024

Evidence and psychology-based

This four week course integrates contemporary research, neuroscience, psychology, and the ancient philosophy of the stoics. You will have recordings and daily exercises, insights into new philosophies and practical tools from a blend of psychological modalities:

Humanistic
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy

We will explore how the mechanics of the grieving brain work, how it influences and impacts our daily moments, and what we can do to help it regrow the neural pathways. We also explore the impact of breath and movement on trauma, understand how trauma affects us, with tools to prevent any traumatic event being prolonged and affecting our life long after the event.

Resources and messaging

Providing people with resources, tools and a daily practice is key to healthy grieving, so you have a month with us when you can interact, learn, connect and feel held in a safe space. Every day, we will post, ask a question, and share our experiences. There will be a secure forum where you can chat about your experience, and the grief coaches will be with you, contributing, guiding, and commenting. At the end of the month, you will have met new people, and you can continue building these connections for support and friendship.

We will give you the emotional literacy to articulate your feelings and get further support from family, friends, colleagues, managers, doctors, and so on. We will combine self-care strategies with practical exercises to help cultivate well-being through mindfulness, breathing and movement.

The courses are interactive workshops, delivered over Zoom , four sessions in total, three hours each. As well as being led by experienced and skilled trainers, you will also be supported by your peers, a powerful experience.

Course cost: £300.00 (early bird discount available)

We look at the grief experience holistically:

mind

Grief affects us mentally, emotionally, and psychologically, and neuroscience shows that our brains have to literally rewire their neural pathways after bereavement. We’ll be looking at key grief theories, and what we can learn about grief from a number of psychological, therapeutic, and philosophical modalities.

body

One of the most surprising things about grief is how intensely physical it is. We feel grief with our bodies, not just our minds. We’ll learn about how trauma affects us physiologically, and what practices we can incorporate to reduce the impact of grief and trauma on our bodies and minds.

breath

Grief, pain, and trauma take a huge toll on our nervous systems. We’ll be focusing on tried-and-tested techniques to help you find some calm, drawing from breathwork, mindfulness, visualisation, and meditation approaches. Self-care is vital, but can go out the window when we’re struggling, so we’ll help you work out a personalised, meaningful self-care plan, to help you reconnect with yourself.

death

Death, life, purpose, meaning: grief brings a whole host of huge existential questions into our world. We’ll be looking at how you can make sense of what you’ve gone through, how you can find your identity and place and purpose again. We’ll consider how to carry your loved one with you as you rebuild life.
