Therapy and Bereavement Support

Life can be complicated. Every day presents us with new challenges. Heartbreak. Difficult decisions. Crossroads. Mental health struggles. Family complications. So many challenges. Let alone when grief enters the room.

We can’t avoid life’s challenges – nor should we want to, because it’s how we respond and adapt to them that helps us shape the kind of life we want to live. But that doesn’t mean that you have to figure it all on your own. Therapy helps you make sense of whatever you’re going through, and adapt and grow around your grief and changing world.

We work with clients over the age of 18, and have experience working with a range of issues, but especially trauma and grief. Sessions are available in-person in Chesterfield or online, and cost £50 per hour. There is no commitment to the number of sessions you have, and we are flexible about time slots, because life is busy.

Helping You Make Sense Of Life & Loss:

I am trained in humanistic integrative therapy. In less wordy terms, that means I base my approach on the belief that you are the one with the answers (even though you might not feel like you do right now).

You don’t need someone to tell you what to do or how to think or feel. You need someone to walk alongside you, to help you navigate through whatever you are dealing with, and stay safe as you do so. To support you in that process, I use a number of tools, and we will work together to figure out what works best for you.

In our sessions:

You’ll get a better understanding of yourself and how your experiences have shaped you.

You’ll find out what you need, and how to get those needs filled in healthy ways.

You’ll start to notice patterns, both in yourself & in important relationships in your life.

You’ll explore what makes your life meaningful & how to work towards your goals.

As we work together, you’ll start to trust yourself more, listen to your inner wisdom, and reconnect with your own resources and strengths. You might not see that possibility yet, but I will, from our very first session, because this is a journey I have been on with so many people, from a range of backgrounds, ages & experiences.

I am registered with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.

Walking Beside You Through Grief:

The loss of someone dear to you creates a void that can feel impossible to navigate. I want to acknowledge the significance of this—grief is one of life’s most profound journeys that we take, one that transforms us in ways we never expected.

My own grief journey led me to dedicate myself to helping others find their path forward. Not to “get over” their loss, but to learn to carry it differently. As someone who has sat with hundreds of grieving people — as a Samaritan listening volunteer, a clinical hypnotherapist, a Cruse Bereavement Support volunteer and trainer — I’ve learned that grief is as unique as your relationship with the person you’ve lost.

I bring together ancient wisdom from Stoic philosophy, whose insights have comforted people for over 2,500 years, with modern approaches like Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy, creating a space where your grief is honoured and your healing is supported.

What I won’t do is tell you how you “should” grieve. Your experience belongs to you. What I can offer is:

A compassionate space where all emotions are welcome.

Practical tools for the days when grief feels overwhelming.

Gentle guidance to help you rediscover meaning while honouring your loss.

Support in rebuilding your life around the absence, not in spite of it.

I’m here to listen to your story, to understand what you need, and to walk beside you, not as someone with all the answers, but as a fellow human being who recognises the sacred nature of grief. Let’s have a conversation about how we might work together.
